Abstract submission instructions
The Dutch Network Science Society invites contributions for the Summer Symposium 2026, to be held in Leiden, The Netherlands on June 24, 2026. The symposium aims to bring together researchers working on all aspects of network science, complex networks, and (social) network analysis, and to showcase the breadth and diversity of network science research taking place in the Netherlands. The symposium is free of charge, and will feature invited talks, as well as lightning talk contributions from the Dutch network science community.

We welcome submissions presenting both fundamental and applied research related to network science. Relevant topics include theoretical and methodological advances, complex network structure and dynamics, social network analysis and computational social science, as well as applications of network approaches across domains such as the natural sciences, life sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. The symposium particularly encourages submissions from early-career researchers, including PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers.

The symposium is designed as an inclusive forum highlighting a wide range of research topics. Accepted contributions will primarily be presented as lightning talks, allowing participants to briefly present their work during sessions scheduled throughout the day. Submissions will be assessed mainly on their relevance to the symposium theme. The goal is to provide a platform that reflects the diversity of network science research in the Netherlands rather than to operate as a highly selective venue.Participants are invited to submit a short abstract describing their work. Submissions may present completed research, work in progress, or novel methodological or conceptual ideas relevant to network science. Submissions will be handled through this form in the form of PDF abstract of at most 1 page.
